abstract

this study was conducted to investigate the single nucleotide polymorphism of stat1 gene by pcr-rflp technique and association of genotypes with milk production traits in brown swiss dairy cattle. the blood samples of ninety eight cows were collected randomly from tail vein. the dna was extracted with cinagene kit (pr881612c). fragment of 314 bp of stat1 gene was amplified by pcr and digested by pag1 restriction enzyme. genotype frequencies were calculated by popgene software (version 1.31). the sas 9.1 software was used for statistical analysis and the mean of traits was compared by duncan test. the genotype frequencies of tt, tc and cc were 0.23, 0.25 and 0.52 respectively. the t and c allele frequency were 0.355 and 0.645 respectively. the expected heterozygosity was estimated 0.458. result of chi-square showed that the population was not in the hardy weinberg equilibrium (p

Single nucleotide polymorphism of the lactoferrin gene and its association with milk production and reproduction traits in Iranian Holstein cattle

Bovine lactoferrin (LTF) is a member of the transferrin family of iron-binding proteins. This protein is present in a wide variety of biological fluids and shows important physiological functions in body. In this study, 404 blood samples were collected from Holstein dairy farms in Iran. A 301 bp fragment of intron 6 in bovine LTF gene was amplified and the animals were genotyped using polymeras...

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism in the Promoter Region of Bovine Interleukin 8 Gene and its Association with Milk Production Traits and Somatic Cell Score of Holstein Cattle in Iran

Background: Interleukie-8 is a proinflammatory cytokine and a potent chemotactic and activation factor for neutrophils. It has been reported to be expressed in high levels by various cell types after immune stimulation and mediates neutrophil recruitment in host. Objectives: The aim of this study was to analysis of the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at position -18...

Polymorphism of the b-Lactoglobulin Gene and Its Association with Milk Production Traits in Iranian Najdi Cattle

The objective of this study was to determine the polymorphism of bovine β-lactoglobulin (β-LG) gene and its association with milk production traits in Iranian Najdi cattle. Blood samples were collected from 80 Najdi cattle from the Najdi cattle breeding station located in Shoshtar, Khuzestan. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) techniqus were used...

the effect of osteopontingene polymorphism on milk production traits in brown swiss cattle

osteopontin gene is located at the end of chromosome 6 in cattle and it is one of the most important genes influence on milk protein percentage and reproduction. in this study, blood samples were collected from100 brown swiss cows and dna was extracted from whole blood by modified salting out procedure. cows were genotyped for single nucleotide polymorphism of intron iv by pcr-rflp and bsri res...

Association of Prolactin Gene Variants with Milk Production Traits in Russian Red Pied Cattle

A total of 125 Russian Red Pied cows were genotyped for the prolactim-related gene. The PRL-RsaI genotypes were analysed using the Polymerase chain reaction -restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. In this breed, the frequencies of alleles were as follows;  A= 0.794 and B= 0.206. The frequencies of AA, AB and BB genotypes were 0.598, 0.392 and 0.01; respectively. Results sho...
